The Academy was created to educate, develop and prepare college students for careers in digital marketing. The program runs 20 weeks and features both curriculum and real-world projects spanning across digital strategy, social media, SEO, paid search and analytics. The curriculum includes a historical overview of the digital marketing industry, where it stands today and where it is headed. The training spans across paid, owned and earned digital solutions and will also cover the science, or the backend, of how websites, search, social and display advertising work. From these fundamental insights, our Academy students will track campaign performance across multiple channels to better determine digital marketing efficacy and efficiency. When I first began researching Millennial first-job-tenure at the beginning of 2012, I learned that they are more likely to jump ship when they don’t feel connected to the company’s higher purpose. Pushing paper and taking orders wont lead to employee retention. Millennials desire participation in movements and new methodologies. They want to be included, reminded they belong and desire the need to add value. In fact, a large percentage want the opportunity to create their own job. To ensure the long-term success of the Digital Academy, we approached and built a program that acknowledged these insights.
Accelerate Taps UNT and UTD Students for Inaugural Digital Academy
We are pleased to announce the inception and creation of Accelerate’s inaugural Digital Academy.
That summer, the idea behind the program was born and presented to the University of Texas – Dallas, Texas Christian University and the University of North Texas. We received positive feedback from the academia community and even offered the universities the opportunity to help guide the direction of the curriculum. This collaborative approach resulted in the selection of two students: Anushka Maya Singh, a University of North Texas Marketing major, and Keerthe Vani Duraisamy Achaian, a University of Texas – Dallas student pursuing a Master of Science in Information Technology and Management.
Our hope is that training both left- and right-side thinkers to solve business problems together, we can better deliver on our promise of being digital catalysts for our client’s businesses.
