Google is also pushing webmasters to adopt mobile friendly sites. As of April 21st 2015 Google will be expanding mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This means that if you were previously ranking well and do not have a mobile friendly site, your position in search results will likely be impacted.

Congratulations! Your site is mobile friendly! But your work doesn’t stop here. There may be ranking shifts with the algorithm change, but you still need to keep the following in mind:

  • There are over 200 factors that Google takes into account when determining rankings for search terms. If you have a mobile friendly site, but your SEO is lacking in most of these areas – changes in your rankings may not be affected.
  • You’re not the only one with a mobile friendly site. While ranking changes may most likely affect sites that aren’t mobile friendly, there will still be many other competitors who have mobile friendly sites – some of which may have better user experience.
